​At the end of the summer, most people are concerned with the tasks that surround school and its surrounding activities. Parents, grandparents and communities are preparing for football, the Texas State Fair and pumpkin-flavored everything. However…if you, your company or your family have a gathering planned for Christmas – this is the best time to book your Santa!
 
At Fun Time Entertainment Group and Rent Santa DFW, our Christmas calls begin in July and continue through the season! I, personally, don’t remember it being that hectic when I was a kid, but the Dallas area is continuing to grow in population, and when the population increases…so does the demand for the best Santas in town.

There is something whimsical about a large mascot character. Kids love them. When a character comes into the room, the first instinct of many children is to go up to the big character and give it a hug!

At Fun Time Entertainment, we have seen this dynamic time and time again, and we love to send out our mascot characters. We especially love sending out our Christmas mascots. Kids adore our larger-than-life reindeer mascots and warm right up to our snowmen! Often, we can send an ice princess or toy soldier with our mascots.

Being a kid at Christmas is special. Christmas is a time when kids can truly be kids and discover the wonder that comes from the season, the fun and the family/friends that surround us. Sometimes, though, we can get too caught up in the season. We can be swept away by the busyness of our lives, technology and TV and even the Christmas events we go to for entertainment.

Every year we have clients that decide they would like to schedule a Santa visit in their home.  Santa visits are a wonderful option for families with young children! Santa can come to your home and let your children know that they are special enough to warrant a pre-Christmas Eve visit from Santa Claus himself! (Now THAT'S special!) 

Timing:
Most of our clients book these visits in the weeks before Christmas, but another time option to book is when all of your relatives have arrived with their children for the holidays. This generally happens about 3-5 days before Christmas. Parties have slowed down a little, relatives start to arrive and children are eager to get to Christmas morning. Perfect.

Santa will greet your family, perhaps read a special Christmas story, talk with your children (and other relatives, if they are there)  and take pictures with the little ones! It should be noted that Santa will, of course, come without his reindeer as they are getting resting up for Christmas Eve...)

Pictures:
You can take your own pictures, or hire a professional photographer to take some sweet shots of Santa with your family. Either way, you will want to have an area designated for pictures. Make sure that it is well-lit, roomy, and has plenty of Christmas decor in the background. The tree or fireplace is perfect!

Santa visits can really help with getting a great Christmas picture of your children. Sometimes, putting kids in a familiar environment allows them to relax and have fun with Santa, with the camera and with their siblings/cousins! If your relatives are in town, it's a great time to get a photo of the whole family! Cousins will talk for years about the time that Santa came to visit them at your house! Your kids will love the fact that Santa took time out of his busy holiday schedule to let them know that they made the "nice" list! It's also kind of funny if Santa hands Dad or an uncle a bag of coal... (Really, it is!)

Christmas is a special time of year. It brings people together in a spirit of fun and giving and each year this tradition brings magic to everyone involved. Perhaps, though, the youngest among us have the opportunity to experience the most magic.

There's a lot of truth in the phrase "Christmas is for kids". If you have ever seen the look on the face of children who are experiencing an element of Christmas for the first time, you know what I am talking about. They have a curious look of wonder on their face and their ability to share the joy of what they are experiencing is uninhibited! Little ones will laugh, squeal, and tell you EXACTLY what they think about what they are seeing!

​Friends and family love to gather and celebrate the holidays with food, fun, festivities and especially photos. Cell phones have made it easier than ever to get a great shot of friends enjoying a party, family gathering for the holidays or even coworkers enjoying each other’s’ company away from the office.
At Fun Time Entertainment,  we have clients call each year to book Santas for pictures. A lot of these Santas are booked for parties to allow guests a Santa photo opportunity. We love sending our best Kris Kringles to events and receiving emails with several of the fun pictures taken with our Jolly Santa Claus!  After having worked in the industry for an extended period of time, we have gathered a few tips to help you set your guests up for “party picture-taking success” with Santa.
 
1.Location:
Some of the best photos we have seen with Santa come from clients who have a designated area for pictures with Santa. They seat Santa in a chair and capture the reactions of children and adults as they approach him, talk with him and pose with him. A designated area allows people to queue for a few moments and creates a level of clarity as to who is next to take their picture with Santa. This also allows the little ones a moment or two of individual time with Santa, creating great photo opportunities.
 
It almost goes without saying that décor will be a key factor in your designated photo area. It is wonderful to have Santa seated by a tree or a fireplace to create that beautiful holiday feel in your guests’ photos.

2. Lighting:
After you have set up your designated photos, you will want to consider lighting. Without the advantage of professional photographer lights, natural light is best. Take your pictures in natural light if you have a party before the sun goes down. If you have inclement weather, then position Santa by large windows to take advantage of the best light possible.
 
If natural light is just not a possibility, then you can set up lights in the area to create the best possible lighting configuration. Take test shots with your lighting is set up in various positions to discover the best configuration for your lighting.  
 
3. Music:
If music is not being played throughout the house or on an intercom system, you will want to keep it at medium volume by Santa’s photo area (so everyone can hear Santa). Music helps to set the mood and get people ready to talk about Christmas! Make sure you have your music tuned to a great (crowd-friendly) Christmas channel or have several Christmas songs queued to play and loop. You don’t want the music to run out while your guests wait for Santa!
 
4. Photographer options:
Your final option is to have a professional photographer come to your party and take full advantage of your professional Santa!  Professional photographers will have the lighting and equipment needed to capture great photos.  They will also be able to capture pictures of the whole family so mom won’t have to hold the iPhone while Dad and the kids are photographed. There are many advantages to a professional photographer, and the other option you can pick is a photo booth. Santa can join you in a photo booth for multiple background options and the photographer can capture you and your family or guests celebrating the season in style!
 
Whichever photo option you choose, be sure to allow your guests an optimal opportunity to capture the best of memories at your party. Pictures with Santa come once a year, and time moves quickly. Don’t let an opportunity to get a photo of a precious moment in time escape you!
